>well it was 53 yesterday and going up to 62 today. the snow piles in the parking lot at school are now down to about 4 feet. Im hoping for some major melt today because its going to turn colder tomorrow. Scott doesnt realize this but if I win the wager, i get a free trip to the movies!

>the treasures of spring
>so its been in the upper 40s for two days straight, and just beautiful outside. Yesterday bee rode her bike around the block and frankie walked the whole way! the snow in our front yard is gone, and when we were sitting on the front porch blowing bubbles (it was warm enough to sit on the front porch!) we saw that the flowers in the front were starting to peak through the soil! In the back yard, where the snow is taking longer to melt because of the shade from the house, you can see lots of patches of grass coming through. We went to play in the background… but had to postpone that play while we cleaned up about 200 hundred treasures deposited by the dogs that were once hidden by the snow but now also peaking through the melt.
>first shorts siting…
>its 45 here today and gorgeous sunny. The high school boy who lives down the street is hanging outside in his shorts! It does feel really warm though. Its always funny how after the winter the 40s can feel like a major heat wave!! Melt snow melt! I want to win that wager…
>the budding feminist
>so today the girls and I went to the dairy store for icecream treats and then cut through the agriculture building to get to engineering to get scott. anyhow, as we were walking through the agriculture building i noted that there was a wall in the hallway with a ton of pictures on it. Im looking at it thinking, wow thats a lot of white men on this wall – where are the women and people of color in MSU agriculture? I dont say anything but keep walking. Bee is walking about 10 feet behind me and Franks and when she gets to the pictures, she says, hey mommy, look. man. man. man. man. man.man. man. man. man. man.man. man. man. man. man. lady? mommy, where are the other ladies?
>I recently discovered dark chocolate M&Ms. I understand that they must be heart healthy, right? When we were in japan i bought dark chocolate kit kat bars (the 4 fingers). Ive been looking for those ever since. If anyone can find them here (US) for me, I will give you a prize! honest!! I just love those things!
>there is hope
>we may have gotten another 4 inches of snow last night but the extended forecast shows that we will get to 50 on march 12!!! I wonder what scott’s rule will say to that?? Which reminds me of a wager scott and i have going: What day do we think the big snow piles from plowing the parking lots at school will be completely melted. they are about 6 feet tall or so.
>so the girls and i went to the store yesterday to buy pea seeds, sprinkles, tissues and chocolate chips…. and we came home with about 6 bags of groceries and forgot to get the tissues. I swear I dont know what happened in that store. We did get the party hats that Bee has been asking to wear since it turned march. She picked out red ones with colorful polkadots and frankie picked out Diego hats. So as you can see bee’s birthday month has just kicked in another notch.
>icecream!
>There is nothing like the pure unadulterated enjoyment of an icecream cone. Seriously, I do not want to dilute the joy this moment brought us.

>changing times
>So next weekend we ‘spring forward’ with the time changes. March 11 this year. Today in mid michigan, the sunrise and sunset are set for:
Sunrise: 7:10 AM EST
Sunset: 6:29 PM EST
So next weekend, springing forward, and factoring in about 20 more minutes of daylight (a minute at each end a day) we will be at:
Sunrise: 8am
Sunset: 7:40 pm
Maybe this is because my formative years were spent in the eastern end of the timezone… but dark at 8am and light at 8pm? that is just plain weird. I think scott is right when he says that 8am is the new 7am (in mid michigan anyway)!!
