Scott was so excited about the “Opposite Cakes” episode coming up on Kid’s Baking Championship that he had to have cake, and Barbara came through. Chocolate with vanilla cream cheese frosting, yum! Frankie was inspired to do the decoration, but then she didn’t want us to eat it.

Christmas in NYC
For a combined birthday present, the whole family spend the weekend in New York City, checking out old stomping grounds and reveling in the Christmas spirit. We had a blast watching Late Night with Stephen Colbert, skating at Rockefeller Center, doing a lot of running in Central Park and Riverside Park, and eating pizza, Korean, and more pizza! 🍕🍕🍕 🎄🎄🎄
Emergency mute surgery
Bee had her last band concert of the year Friday, and as of friday morning found herself with a cork-less mute. The cork is important because it keeps the mute inside the bell of the horn.
Family to the rescue! Frankie suggested cutting up a wine cork as a replacement. Angie did the cutting, Scott used his super strength to get the hot glue gun working, and Bee glued the corks on. Chocho and Chile were helpful in that they did not bark. Here is the result:
It turns out that Bee needed her mute to perform a solo during the last song! This song was Simple Gifts, and she wanted it to be a surprise. It was! Hopefully we’ll get a recording soon, and we’ll be sure to share it.

This is Niagara Falls, but it feel that cold!
Christmas in Tybee 2017
We drove down to Tybee Island one more time this year for Christmas. It was not as warm as last year but still fun. We stayed at the Salty Paws, which was a little smaller than the Sunny Daze from last year but still good for the whole family. Lots of peace and quiet and trips into Savannah for camarones.

Congratulations Chile!
