chariot? Well, that is the only flag we could find to attach to our
snow castle – the chariot bike trailor flag. Yesterday was beautiful
– partly sunny, a warm 31, and with 10 inches of packing snow, how
could you not make a snow castle? Our goal was to make it as tall as
Bee. Good thing she is only 3 and a half feet tall or I might have
frozen my feet and hands off! Tomorrow is the arctic apocalypse, with
a high of 4 and windchills about 20 below. A good day to curl up on
the couch with some good books and hot chocolate.

Well, we were reminiscing about the crabbies today… I wonder how
they are doing? they are coming up to the first b-day!

>anyone want some snow?

>So i read yesterday that the average snowfall for the mid michigan
region is 30 inches a year. Yesterday we were at 41, and then we got
10 more, making 51. The girls love it! Its past their knees! The
only problem with that is that I was in Philly trying to get home,
and scott was home trying to get to st. louis and we had a carefully
orchestrated schedule for making sure the girls were cared for. Lets
just say I got home at 12:45 this morning, and scott finally was able
to leave at 3 this morning. You know, its never fun when the pilot
says "well folks, its going to be a rough flight so flight attendants
will be seated throughout".

>Super Tuesday is here…

>What are your predictions???????????

I have to say Im a bit jealous of everyone whose vote COUNTS! Now I agree that the primary system needs an overhaul and understand the fight MI wants to have, but still in the most exciting primary season ever (in my lifetime) my vote had to go to “uncommitted.” Ah, well, there is still the general election. OK, post your predictions here….

What do I predict? Obama takes California, plus 10 other states and comes out with the big MO…. As for the GOP? I dunno. I guess McCain will take the cake, but Im betting on a surprise Romney upset in CA.

Fired up! Ready to Go!

In other news, I decided that since I read so many books at night and promptly forget about them I might post on each book when I finish it. Maybe that will be my new years resolution. That means look for 2 book updates in the next couple of days before their content gets buried too deep in my gray matter.

>winter is back

>yesterday was a high of 9 with windchills of about -20 in the morning (cold enough to cancel schools in the area). Now tomorrow we’re testing scott’s theory again. they are predicting 8-12 inches tonight through tomorrow night, which means either 4-6 or 18+. Lets see if we make it to the play at the wharton center tomorrow…predictions?

Statement as of 3:27 AM EST on January 31, 2008

… Snow tonight and Friday…

… Heavy Snow Warning in effect from 7 PM this evening to 7 PM
EST Friday…

The National Weather Service has issued a Heavy
Snow Warning for lower Michigan… which is in effect from 7 PM this evening to 7 PM
EST Friday. This is an upgrade of the Winter Storm Watch.

Snow will develop this evening and continue through Friday. The
snow may be heavy at times and will accumulate 8 to 12 inches by
Friday night. Visibilities will frequently be below a mile which
will make for hazardous travel.

A Heavy Snow Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast
that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If
you must travel… keep an extra flashlight… food… and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

anyone have any good rutabaga recipes? We got a ton of them at the CSA this week, and the only time i think I recall eating one might have been at my SILs house. I understand these root vegetables are a staple of the local michigan winter food supply.

>2008!

>Happy New Year! Only 22 days late…. Happy MLK Day! Only 1 day late!

So, my mom taught me a great lesson when I was in the 3rd grade. Our
family bought a box of chocolate chip icecream and when we opened it at home, only half the box of icecream had chocolate chips in it – the other half was only vanilla icecream. I was so disappointed. So, what did my mom do? She suggested that I write a letter to Hersheys (the maker of the icecream) and explain what happened. And, so I did. A few weeks later in the mail I received coupons galore for free icecream and other products, and a letter from the company apologizing for what had happened. Now, right before christmas the pole that helps to hold up the girls' tent broke. I searched high and low on the internet for a replacement pole, as they love that tent but couldnt find one. I almost went to Target to buy a new tent for them. the tent itself was only about $25, but I couldnt imagine wasting the natural resources. We didnt need a new tent – just a new pole. So I remembered my 3rd grade experience and wrote an email to the company who made the tent (Midwest glove) explaining what happened and where I might find replacement poles. Ten days later what do I get in the mail? A free replacement pole! thanks midwest glove! thanks mom!!!
Pictures to follow. Im just happy to get a post done today!
